GEORGE NEWS - A long line of elderly citizens are queueing outside the George Post Office this morning for their monthly Sassa grant money.
Load shedding starts at 12:00, and the possibility is very real that they will have to go home, again, after being sent home yesterday as well.
An enquiry has been sent to the post office.
In March this year, George Herald was approached about the very same situation. The information shared at the time revealed that the post office does not have the funds for a generator, and cannot accommodate these people while they wait for the power to return.
"The George Post Office does not have a back-up generator and when there is load shedding, the branch is in pitch darkness. it is not suitable for letting customers rest until the power is restored. When funds become available, the post office will consider using a generator during load shedding," read their response.
