GEORGE NEWS - The new high care unit of Mediclinic George has been completed and the official opening took place last Thursday, 29 August. In a statement Mediclinic George said the unit was commissioned in response to the growing demand for additional specialised beds by the surrounding community.
The newly built seven-bed unit is located on the fifth floor of the hospital and offers a fresh modern feel while maintaining the aesthetics associated with the Mediclinic brand.
These facilities were previously used by the well-known and now retired general surgeon, Dr Jannie Maritz.
The unit provides state-of-the art equipment to ensure the best possible specialised treatment and support for patients while its panoramic view over the majestic Outeniquas is sure to aid in patients' recovery.
"We have been able to bring on board additional staff to ensure our patients receive the specialised nursing care they require," said hospital general manager Kassie Karstens.
"The licence for these additional beds was granted as a necessary measure to temporarily provide for the growing patient numbers the hospital is experiencing. We are excited that our hospital remains the trusted name in private healthcare, and we will continue to invest in our community to ensure we can assist them when they need us most."
