GO GEORGE attacks: Suspects on CCTV

GEORGE NEWS FLASH - Both the defense and the prosecutor scrutinised CCTV video footage that implicates the 11 suspects who were allegedly involved in the 19 August unrest, which left four GO GEORGE buses burnt out.

The footage was presented in the George Magistrate’s Court yesterday by the state prosecutor, Herman Steyn, during the suspects’ bail application.

The CCTV footage was extracted from a camera on the corner of Nelson Mandela Boulevard and Ngcakani Street in Thembalethu and other footage presented was taken by the police.

This footage shows taxi drivers blocking the road with their taxis and some of the suspects arguing with the police.

The video also showed a mob chasing and attacking a Prime Security minibus taxi that was carrying passengers.

The case was postponed until today and the suspects are still custody.
