GEORGE NEWS - A search party is still looking for a local fisherman who was knocked off a rock by a wave at the Gwaiing River mouth near Herold’s Bay on Saturday 12 November.
NSRI Wilderness, George Fire and Rescue Services, WC Government Health EMS rescue squad and ambulance, the police and the EMS/AMS Skymed rescue helicopter were activated at about 10:00 on Saturday 12 November.
The NSRI launched a rescue craft from Herold’s Bay while another was towed and launched at the scene. Rescue swimmers were also dispatched to conduct a shoreline search and the helicopter was searching from the sky.
Sea conditions deteriorated and despite the extensive search there was no sign of the missing man.
Members from the same teams continued the search the following day, but there is still no sign of the missing man.
Police divers are continuing their search.
