GEORGE NEWS AND VIDEO - Juggling the buzz of two coffee shops (Elvis Brew in George and Hartenbos) while sustaining his national singing career, raising his busy daughters with his beautiful wife, and hitting the trails on his mountain bike, Jan Hoogendyk - better known as Elvis Blue - isn't stopping there.
This dynamic entrepreneur and artist has added a new high-flying pursuit to his repertoire: paragliding.
"I always thought it was one of those things I needed to do," said Hoogendyk while waiting to do a flight at the Map of Africa launch site in Wilderness earlier this week.
"People come from all around the world to paraglide here. It would be a shame if you live in George and you don't give it a try."
Hoogendyk is about one week into his course with local paragliding school Let's Fly Paragliding, and enjoying it immensely.
"It's even better than I thought it was going to be. I'm trying to get my wife to sign up for a course as well," he laughed.
So far he has done flights from the spectacular launch sites in Sedgefield, Map of Africa, Paradise Ridge and Kleinkrantz and he is 100% certain that this time spent in the air, in nature, will inspire a new song or two. Watch this space!
