GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The most precious gift someone can give is the gift of life, and every unit of blood a person donates can potentially save three lives.
There's always an urgent need for blood donations, especially over the summer season when regular donors are on holiday and fatalities increase due to road accidents.
WPBTS statistics indicate that less than 1,5% of the Western Cape population regularly donates blood, while up to 75% of the population in the province will require blood or blood products at some point in their lives.
These statistics become even more critical in peak season with the influx of holiday visitors and an increase in road accidents.
You can donate blood at the following centres:

Date: Thursday, 28 December - 12:00 to 16:00

Knysna:
Date: Thursday, 28 December - 11:00 to 16:00
Venue: Wpbts Caravan, Knysna Mall

N.B: Remember to eat balanced meal four hours before you donate blood.

Blood donation only takes 20 to 30 minutes of your time every 56 days.
It requires you to be between the age of 16 and 65, weigh over 50kg, be in good general health and lead a safe sexual lifestyle.
