Mayor Mercia Draghoender presented 30 embroidered satin scarves to the head of the Japanese delegation, Kuniya Daini at the official hand over of the media centre to the Japanese.
She expressed the hope that the existing ties between George and Japan will be strengthened and maintained in future.
The scarves are meant to serve as a reminder of George and its people long after the World Cup has gone.
Over lunch, the delegates and media were entertained by dancers from Heidedal Primary who delivered a graceful Japanese dance in honour of our Asian guests.
