GEORGE NEWS - The identity of the deceased man who was found in Hibernia Street on Friday morning 23 December, still has to be determined.
George Police opened a murder docket after they found the unknown man's body, with several stab wounds at about 04:00 that morning.
Spies says police officers were busy with vehicle patrols in the CBD when they made the discovery. The man was dressed in khaki pants and a maroon T-shirt at the time of the discovery and had several stab wounds to his chest and back. He was later declared dead by paramedics on scene.
"The motive for the killing is yet to be determined and forms part of the ongoing police probe. Investigation into this attack continues," said Spies.
The investigating officer, WO John Boezak, urges the public to come forward with any information which could lead to the arrest of those responsible for the killing as well as next of kin of the deceased. Anyone with information is asked to contact him on 044 803 4714 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
