GEORGE NEWS - Motorists will not be receiving a renewal notice if your licence disc expires on 30 November 2015 or 31 December 2015 in George and the rest of the Western Cape.
Those who are affected in George should please renew their licences timeously to avoid the payment of penalties by furnishing your identity document and proof of residential and postal address.
The George licensing department will advise motorists on the amount payable. While the National Department of Transport is in the process of transferring the Electronic National Traffic Information System (eNatis) to the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) the authorities are not able to send these notices to motorists. The eNatis system is currently managed centrally at the national department, which includes the issuing of Motor Vehicle Licence renewal notices.
This transition period will directly affect the thousands of motorists in the province who were due to renew their licence disks. Motorists are urged to be proactive in checking their licence disk renewal status, and ensuring that they renew in time to avoid penalties.
Motorists can contact or visit the local licensing department at Stasie Street, George for any further assistance and information. Please contact George Traffic department and speak to Annelise Nel at 044 801 9311 or 801 9310.
Motorists can also phone 0860 212 414 for more information.
At the the licensing department the office hours are from 08:00 to 15:30. (On Wednesdays the opening time is 08:30 for compulsory training of e-natis transactions). They operate through the lunch hour.
Motorists are urged to take these steps before the 21 days grace period ends.
