GEORGE NEWS - Drugs with a street value of nearly R300 000 were confiscated from a house in Thembalethu on Wednesday 31 January.
A Nigerian man (30) and a local woman (35) were arrested for dealing in drugs after 2595 mandrax tablets, two drug scales and 470g of tik was found in their possession. The street value of these goods totalled R294 250.00
Louis Emenzo and Nicolene Manuel were arrested after the Outeniqua K9 unit obtained a search warrant for a house in Asanzani, Zone 6.
They appeared in the Thembalethu Magistrate’s Court earlier today. The case was postponed to 6 February for Emenzo’s legal representation.
Manuel’s bail was set at R20 000. She will be released once it is paid.
Thembalethu station commander, Colonel Douw Herbst, thanked the community for their cooperation during the bust. “We urge community members to come forward with information. These arrests would not have been possible without information that was given to us. Any information will be treated confidentially and anonymity will be guaranteed. All criminal activities must be reported,” he said.
