GEORGE NEWS - The family of a toddler who died after he was run over by a truck on Saturday, is struggling to come to terms with the loss of their son.
The accident in which Brian Mapfumo (4) died, occurred in Asazani, Thembalethu at 14:00 on 22 February.
According to community members, Brian was crossing the road when the truck ran him over, injuring his leg. The community tried to stop the truck but the driver tried to get away, in the process driving over the boy again.
This time, Brain suffered head injuries and died.
Brian's aunt, Zodwa Mapfumo, told George Herald the family learnt of the accident from Brian's cousin, also four years old. They ran to the scene, only to find the little boy's lifeless body.
Zodwa described the little boy as a sweet, innocent child, "Unlike his cousin, he was a shy and quiet boy," said his aunt.
