GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The Mighty Men Conference Mossel Bay started last evening at Bartelsfontein on the R327 road between the N2 and Herbertsdale, outside Mossel Bay.
Lukas Korff, an evangelist and well-known for his daring feats and "take on the world" attitude, was the keynote speaker.
He spoke on fatherhood and taking responsibility.
Gave their lives to the Lord
Sharn du Preez, part of the management team of Mighty Men Mossel Bay, told Mossel Bay Advertiser that many gave their lives to the Lord last night at the altar call. "It was absolutely amazing."
"Lukas' message last night was unbelievable. It was so spot-on."
He said: "John Matuhle is on stage right now. The message is awesome."
Pastor Matuhle spoke on the topic, "I am my brother's keeper."
Engaged
Du Preez said the core message was that men must take responsibility for one another and care for one another.
Du Preez said the event was Holy Spirit-filled and "people are engaged".
He described it as an interactive, dynamic event. People were not passive spectators, he said.
"There is still space." Grandfathers, sons and grandsons are welcome to attend. The event is totally free and one does not even have to register. One can just arrive.
Family day
Sunday is family day, when women and children are all welcome. It will be a picnic day.
In a public voicenote message today, Mossel Bay Mayor Dirk Kotzé said: "It was great to attend first evening of the Mighty Men Conference in Mossel Bay. More than 1 000 had their campsites set up. It was great to see sons, fathers and grandfathers enjoying time in nature, without any distractions before the Christmas season.
Small businesses
"This is also a great opportunity for small businesses, which were selling food at the event. The event promotes social and economic wellbeing and we are expecting thousands more people today and tomorrow."
