GEORGE NEWS - Five suspects aged between 18 and 21 were expected to make their first court appearance in the George Magistrate’s Court today, Friday 2 September.
The suspects were arrested earlier this week after the brutal attack on a young man from Harmony Park in Pacaltsdorp, Maximilian Reimann (20), in the early hours of Saturday morning, 27 August.
Reimann was allegedly attacked in Mission Street by eight men belonging to a local gang, and left for dead. He was found later that morning lying next to the road in Kerk Street by a resident, Charlotte Edwards.
Reimann was nearly hypothermic when she found him and his clothes were torn off. He also had severe facial injuries for which he underwent surgery at the Groote Schuur hospital in Cape Town on Wednesday 31 August.
According to his father, Martin Reimann, the operation was a success and they are expecting their son to make a full recovery.
The suspects are all facing a charge of attempted murder. The outcome of the court appearance still has to be confirmed.
