GEORGE NEWS - Three suspects aged between 25 and 40 were arrested in Thembalethu in connection with illicit drugs and alleged stolen copper cables on Thursday 24 February.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, the Eden Cluster Crime Combatting Team (ECCCT) and members of the Public Order Police (Pops) were raiding a house in Mayibuye Street, Thembalethu, when they noticed a man running towards the bathroom.
They followed him and found 166 Mandrax tablets, 65 grams of tik and a small zipper bag with crushed Mandrax.
The team proceeded with a search of a dwelling at the back of the main house where five big dagga parcels were found hidden under a blanket. Bags with copper cables were also confiscated from the premises.
The three are facing charges of dealing in drugs as well as possession of stolen property.
On Friday 25 February, the Uniondale Crime Prevention Unit conducted a sting operation in Bishop Street in Haarlem, where various types of liquor and an undisclosed amount of cash, believed to be proceeds of the illicit activities, were confiscated.
A woman (26) was arrested on a charge of selling liquor without a licence.
