GEORGE NEWS - With load shedding back in full swing, residents and businesses in George are once again adapting to life without power.
We are currently on stage 4 after load-shedding was reduced at 00:30 on Monday 24 February until further notice.
This follows the successful recovery of all five units at Majuba, two units at Camden, and one unit at Medupi since Saturday, totalling eight out of 10 generation units that had tripped this weekend, Eskom earlier said in a statement.
Additionally, emergency reserves replenishment is progressing well. These units were returned after the root causes of multiple unit trips were identified. These were unconnected and purely of a technical nature related to electrical and control system issues in auxiliary parts of these power stations.
While some residents are investing in alternative energy solutions, others are finding creative ways to stay productive.
In the meantime, survive by:
- Charging your devices before power cuts
- Stocking up on gas or ready-to-eat meals
- Having torches, candles, and power banks ready
