GEORGE NEWS - The trial concerning the brutal assault of a young Lawaaikamp woman is scheduled to continue in the George Regional Court on Friday 19 June, following its last session on 31 March.
Sive Toto (26), who was just 23 at the time of the incident, was attacked in Lawaaikamp on 26 August 2022.
According to the reports, the accused, Shaun Madonono (26), had earlier been involved in an altercation with Toto’s boyfriend, which he allegedly lost. In retaliation, he allegedly broke into Toto’s home, dragged her to his own residence and assaulted her.
She reportedly lost consciousness during the attack and was later dumped near a petrol station along Nelson Mandela Boulevard.
A petrol attendant discovered her, and she was taken for medical treatment.
Toto suffered severe brain damage and is now non-verbal, permanently wheelchair-bound, and entirely dependent on others for her daily care.
Madonono has since been released on bail and is facing charges of assault with the intent to commit grievous bodily harm, kidnapping and housebreaking.
