GEORGE NEWS - Residents are being urged to remain vigilant following recent reports of remote car jamming incidents in the area.
This type of crime, in which suspects use devices to block a vehicle’s locking signal, is becoming an increasing concern in public parking spaces and residential areas.
Perpetrators typically operate in close proximity to their targets. Motorists should be aware of suspicious persons loitering near parked vehicles, particularly those moving between cars without clear purpose.
As a precaution, vehicle owners are encouraged to physically check that their cars are locked before walking away, rather than relying solely on remote locking systems.
In addition, valuables such as bags, electronics and other personal items should never be left visible inside a vehicle.
Community members are reminded that awareness is a key deterrent.
