GEORGE NEWS - Thembalethu detectives are working around the clock to follow up on all leads after a 30-year-old off-duty police officer was shot and left with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body and leg.
The incident occurred at around 00:30 this morning, Wednesday 1 April, in 26th Street, Thembalethu near Truns.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie, it is reported that the victim became involved in a fight with the suspect, who then returned with reinforcements.
Shots were fired, leaving the officer in a critical condition. He was later admitted to intensive care.
The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle and remain at large.
“Police are appealing to anyone with information about the incident, or the identity and whereabouts of the suspects, to come forward,” said Pojie.
