GEORGE NEWS - Drugs and an unlicensed firearm landed an Ethiopian man in hot water when he was pulled over in Courtenay Street on Tuesday 15 April.
The arrest is a result of a roadblock held by George Crime Prevention Unit members during a crime prevention operation in the area.
They pulled over a white Nissan NP200 bakkie and approached the driver of the vehicle. He was unable to provide any personal identification documentation.
"A search of his vehicle ensued, which led to the discovery of an unlicensed CZ pistol and ammunition. The police members also confiscated a small quantity of khat, which was found during the search," said Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies.
The 43-year-old suspect was arrested on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, as well as possession of drugs and for being an undocumented person. He will appear in court once charged.
