GEORGE NEWS - Should you spot youngsters in red and black attire taking photos of your business in the next few months, don't be alarmed.
They are employed by Group Editors to help compile a business intelligence survey in and around George.
Group Editors in conjunction with our publication, George Herald, will embark on this project next Monday, 29 July.
The purpose of the survey is to identify each and every business and its location; to identify and categorise each industry represented in our area; to obtain accurate numbers of businesses in the various categories and to map all businesses in George.
The survey hunters will be clearly identified, dressed in red shirts or red windbreakers, black jeans and black caps.
They will also have ID cards clearly displayed.
All their clothing will be branded with the Group Editors name. The team will take a photograph of each business from the outside of the premises and plot its location, e-mail address and telephone number.
Initially they will move through town in an ordered way and will be seen in specific areas each day.
The photos will be utilised for a mapping system, similar to Google Maps. Statistics in Johannesburg indicated that the actual number of businesses located in and around the city is eight times more than what was captured on their original database.
Currently there is no complete database available for businesses in George.
