GEORGE BUSINESS NEWS - The month of August is TVET Open Month within the Technical Vocational Education and Training Sector at South Cape College.
This a national initiative by the Department of Higher Education (DHET) aimed at showcasing what the TVET College sector has to offer its local communities.
With this in mind South Cape TVET College is actively part of this initiative with various activities taking place at all its Campuses throughout the catchment area.
Mossel Bay, Oudtshoorn and George Campuses have already hosted various successful Open Days with learners from each area visiting the campuses. In some instances we even had a couple of primary schools visiting our campuses in order to see what future study paths will be available to them.
At each of the Open Days the focus was on career paths available to learners and not just the courses available. Interactive stalls showcased not only what was on offer at campuses but also had some of the current students explaining what they have thus far learned and experienced at South Cape TVET College.
Lecturers engaged with the Learners and explained all study areas with great enthusiasm. The difference between the College and school curricula was explained and the important fact that TVETs educate and train for a vocation (academically directed learning) and occupations (learning that is job related) was impressed on them.
South Cape TVET College encourages all school learners to visit its nearest Campus during this month. This visit could change your life and set you on a Career Path that is among those identified as the careers of the near future.
By writing a free placement and/or interest test you just might be the one to be considered as the appropriate student at South Cape TVET College. Going forward only potential students with the following subjects (good marks in Mathematics and English) and right attitude and aptitude will be sought.
Potential students are welcome to just come and say “Hi”. You never know, your future career path may be closer than you think.
