Twenty-nine-year-old Baker brings a vibrant energy and a wealth of experience to this position. She completed her International Diploma in Somatology (SAASHP and CIDESCO) at the Sonett International Academy of Beauty in Fochville in 2006, and then kick-started her career as a trainee therapist at the Sparkling Waters Health Spa in the Magaliesberg. A year later, she spread her wings and sailed off on board one of the Steiner Leisure Limited American Cruise Ships to work as an ionithermist and beauty therapist for a year.
This international experience proved invaluable, but the call of home was strong and she returned to work as senior health therapist at the Clarens Wellness Centre in the Eastern Free State in 2008. As fate would have it, a dream job came her way, and so she headed for the Middle East in 2008 to work as a spa developer at the Emirates Medical Centre in Muscat, near the Gulf of Oman. There she had the opportunity to develop her managerial skills by creating treatments for the spa menus; select products to be used for the opening of the spa; set up standards of procedures; and train her team of therapists in line with international standards.
She then took a side-step to pursue one of her other great passions, diving. She worked as a diving instructor at the Dimanyiat Diving Centre in Oman and after that as the marketing manager for Knight Divers Scuba Diving Centre in Muscat. In 2013 she headed home to take up the reins as spa manager at Sparkling Waters Health Spa, and after that the Miarestate Hotel in Haga-Haga in the Eastern Cape, before making the move to Fancourt.
Her passion shines through when she talks about her plans to refine the Fancourt spa experience, "We offer only the finest product ranges and our team of hand-picked professionals delivers a world-class service. In keeping with global trends, I will be introducing treatments for pregnant ladies and also exclusively for men, to meet the growing demand."
