BUSINESS NEWS - The Garden Route’s favourite local radio station is celebrating 40 years of connecting with listeners, from the Garden Route to the Wild Coast and inland through the Karoo.
Voted the Best Local Radio Station in Entertainment and Hospitality two years in a row, the station is aiming for a hat-trick.
It is the station where ‘fun is a serious business’, and this resonates with listeners and business partners in the region, says Algoa FM managing director Alfie Jay.
“A big thank you to every Garden Route listener and business who has embraced Algoa FM,” he says. “Being nominated as the best local radio station for the third year in a row puts the icing on the cake for our 40th birthday.”
Algoa FM has a dedicated team based in George to partner with businesses and organisations throughout the Garden Route.
They are afternoon drive show presenter Simon Bechus, reporter Louise Carsten, sales executive Angelique Strydom and office co-ordinator Envor Windwaai.
You can meet them in person at the many promotions Garden Route businesses host in partnership with Algoa FM.
The station also partners with many of the main events in the region, helping to raise the profile of the events and attract visitors, competitors and stallholders.
Algoa FM’s commitment to the region extends to membership of the George Business Chamber and supporting local non-profits through its annual Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer event in George, the Algoa FM Charity golf day and other fundraising partnerships.
Residents and businesses in George connect with Algoa FM daily on air, online, and through social media.
Algoa FM has hosted a dedicated Garden Route weekday Afternoon Drive show since 2011, and in December 2023, moved even closer to listeners in George and surrounds by investing in a purpose-built studio in Courtenay Street.
