BUSINESS NEWS - The team at Akeso George has expressed its gratitude to patients, families, healthcare professionals and the wider Garden Route community following its nomination in the Best of George Awards.
The recognition comes during a milestone year for the specialised mental health facility, which celebrated its seventh anniversary on 11 March 2026.
Over the past seven years, Akeso George has provided comprehensive inpatient mental healthcare to adults, adolescents and individuals struggling with substance use disorders.
The facility’s Adult Unit treats a range of psychiatric conditions, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and trauma-related challenges, while its Dual Diagnosis Unit offers structured rehabilitation for substance use disorders.
The dedicated Adolescent Unit provides age-appropriate care for young people facing emotional, behavioural and mental health difficulties.
A key strength of the facility is its multidisciplinary team, which includes psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, biokineticists and specialised psychiatric nursing staff.
Together, they create a supportive therapeutic environment focused on healing, recovery and personal growth.
Beyond treating symptoms, the team aims to equip patients with practical coping skills, resilience and strategies to manage the challenges of daily life.
Akeso George remains committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based mental healthcare to the people of George and the wider Garden Route.
“We are honoured by this nomination and grateful for the trust placed in us over the past seven years as we continue building a healthier and more hopeful community,” says the team.
