BUSINESS NEWS - The people of Algoa Country have spoken - Algoa FM has once again been named the Garden Route's favourite radio station, making it the third consecutive year the station has received the accolade.
Algoa FM managing director Alfie Jay says the award is a strong reflection of the station's connection with its listeners in George and surrounding areas.
"We are extremely grateful to everyone who voted for us. It is a wonderful vote of confidence and particularly special as we celebrate 40 years of broadcasting excellence," says Jay.
For four decades, Algoa FM has connected listeners through music, news, community involvement and local stories. Its diverse line-up of presenters has also played an important role in building strong relationships with audiences across the region.
Local presenter Simon Bechus hosts Algoa FM's dedicated Garden Route drive-time show from the station's studio in George.
The station's reach extends from the Garden Route to the Wild Coast and inland through the Karoo, giving local businesses an opportunity to connect with customers across the wider Algoa country.
Algoa FM is also active in bringing communities together through events such as its annual charity golf day and the Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer.
This year's Big Walk will take place on 31 October, starting at George Golf Club, with entries available on the Algoa FM website. "For us, bringing people closer together is what we do best - because fun is a serious business," says Jay.
