GEORGE NEWS - George Municipality is pleased to inform residents and businesses that refuse removal services resumed this morning following weather-related disruptions experienced earlier this week.
Friday refuse collection schedule
Refuse removal is being conducted today according to the normal Friday collection schedule in the following areas:
- Glenwood
- Loerie Park
- Eden George
- Genevafontein
- Denver Park
- Bergsig
- Eastern Extension
- Businesses
Saturday catch-up operations
The refuse collection backlog from Wednesday and Thursday will be addressed on Saturday, 6 June, in the following areas:
- Denneoord
- Pacaltsdorp
- Groeneweide Park
- Dormehlsdrift
- Golf Park 1, 2 and 3
- George South
- Bos en Dal
Residents in these areas are requested to place their refuse out for collection as normal.
Weekend backlog clearance
Municipal teams will conduct catch-up operations throughout the weekend to restore services in affected areas as quickly as possible following the severe weather disruptions.
Should teams be unable to complete all backlog collections on Saturday, operations will continue on Sunday, 7 June, until the affected areas have been serviced.
Landfill site and transfer station operating hours
Following an assessment of operational conditions, the George Municipal Landfill Site and Transfer Station will operate as follows:
Friday, 5 June
- 12:00 – 18:00
Saturday, 6 June
- 07:00 – 15:00
Sunday, 7 June
- 07:00 – 15:00
