GEORGE NEWS - George Municipality has advised residents, visitors and members of the public that a collaborative emergency response exercise will take place at Voëlklip on Thursday, 9 July.
The planned training exercise is aimed at testing emergency response procedures, improving coordination between emergency services and strengthening operational readiness for future incidents.
Multiple emergency services participating
The exercise will involve the following organisations:
- George Fire Department and Disaster Services
- SAPS Search and Rescue / Dive Unit
- Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Rescue
- Forensic Pathology Services (FPS) – Special Operations Rescue Team (SORT)
- EDR Rescue
Public urged not to be alarmed
The municipality emphasised that this is a planned training exercise and not an actual rescue operation.
Emergency vehicles, rescue personnel and specialised equipment will be visible in the area throughout the exercise as participating agencies carry out simulated emergency response activities.
George Municipality thanked the public for its cooperation and support as emergency services continue to improve preparedness and strengthen coordinated responses to emergencies.
