WILDERNESS NEWS - The Gift of Hope Drive will take place in the Wilderness area on Thursday, 12 December. This Christmas-themed community initiative aims to spread festive cheer throughout the SAPS Wilderness sector with a joyful parade.
Local role players and community members are invited to join the convoy as it moves through the area to distribute Christmas treats along the route.
Organisers have confirmed that, due to ongoing roadworks, congestion, and the geographical layout of the sector, the convoy will not be able to reach every neighbourhood.
Many roads in Wilderness are cul-de-sacs, preventing the convoy from passing through.
As a result, the following areas will be excluded from this year’s drive: Victoria Bay, Rondevlei, Sands Road, Wilderness CBD, and most of Hoekwil (only Church Road and Duiwe Rivier Road will be included).
Route Overview
17:30 – Assembly on Ebb and Flow Road (access via the N2).
18:00 – Departure.
The route begins with a drive through Ebb and Flow National Park, before turning left onto Waterside Road toward Wilderness Heights, where a brief stop will be made to distribute treats.
From there, the convoy will continue along Seven Passes Road to Touwsranten, Hoekwil, and Kingfisher Close.
The drive then heads left onto the N2, turning left at the circle into 1st Avenue and continuing through North Street, 3rd Avenue and 4th Avenue, before returning to the N2.
The convoy will then proceed to Langvlei Dunes, completing the loop on the gravel road, and continue to Kleinkrantz.
From Protea Road, the route leads to Nature’s Valley for a short stop, where only a limited number of EMS vehicles will enter due to space constraints. The convoy will then move along Vloksie Street, Amaryllis Street, and Hibiscus Street, returning to Protea Street and back to the N2.
The final section takes the drive to the circle at Waves Garage, with a left turn into Marine Drive, followed by 5th Avenue, 7th Avenue, and 8th Avenue, before looping back to the parking area at the Wilderness Beach Hotel, where the event will conclude.
Organisers extend their thanks to all participants and to everyone who contributed sweets and toys for children in the sector.
