Claire van Deventer:
On the 25th of December I was walking in the sea at Glentana when the purse attached to my key ring dropped into the waves and washed away within seconds. It contained my ID and bank cards as well as a number of other items.
After a fruitless search in rough water, I accepted the purse was on its way out to sea.
On the 26th of December the doorbell rang and two police officers were at my front door with the purse in their hands, with all the cards intact and half-filled with sea sand!
I cannot thank the Good Samaritan enough who found this small container on the vast beach and handed it in without leaving a name or number.
I also want to commend the police who were extremely busy at this time but made the effort to trace my home address and bring the purse personally to the front door. What an asset to the police force and to our country.
