A day in the office: Festive mood at council with inauguration of the mayor

The festive mood of the Special Council Meeting on Friday 21 June was mainly because it was, indeed, a special event with the inauguration of the mayor Jacqulique von Brandis, but certainly also because it was the first physical council meeting in a while. Normally council meetings would proceed through MS Teams, which provides a totally different atmosphere. It is costly to host a meeting in the City Hall, therefore it only happens on special occasions. The current council chambers is too small to accomodate the whole council and all the administrative personnel.George Herald journalist Michelle Pienaar had a field day with her camera, making the most of the chance to meet, greet, and snap some photos - especially during the six caucus breaks of 30 minutes each, which provided ample time for socialise.
