ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - More than 250 young people from across the Garden Route and the wider Western Cape participated in the second Garden Route Fashion and Creative Expo 2026, hosted at the George Museum and Reflekt Development Division's facilities in Mossel Bay.
The event brought together students, aspiring creatives, entrepreneurs, educational institutions and industry professionals to explore career opportunities in fashion and the creative industries.
Hosted by Reflekt Model Management and Reflekt Development Division NPC, in partnership with the Elizabeth Galloway Academy of Fashion Design and supported by various stakeholders, the expo focused on skills development, entrepreneurship, mentorship and industry exposure.
The participants learnt about fields such as photography, styling, fashion design, visual communication, trend forecasting and creative entrepreneurship. The programme is aimed at helping youngsters turn their creative interests into practical skills to open doors to further education, employment, freelance work as well as business opportunities.
Entry was free, which made it more accessible to young people who may not otherwise have access to training and professional networks.
The collaboration between Reflekt and the Elizabeth Galloway Academy of Fashion Design builds on previous initiatives, including student fashion competitions that give emerging designers opportunities to showcase their work and connect with industry professionals.
The organisers said after the expo, opportunities for youth development and creative training will remain available.
