GEORGE NEWS - The Hovering: A Living Presence, a show rich in colour, sound and imagery, came alive at the Market Community Theatre last Friday when a group of local artists collaborated to create an immersive experience of artistic expression.
Petronel Baard, singer and songwriter, took to the stage in a stunning vocal performance, transforming Louisa Punt-Fouché's poetry from her latest book, Breathing with the Earth, into living art.
Baard performed in front of a visual backdrop of flowing images and video material, created by FP Senekal, a former filmmaker.
The imagery spoke to the song, the story, and to the author's unique contribution to the overall show.

Punt-Fouché's voice was heard through the expression of all those involved, creating a rich, collaborative experience. The music was performed by Franco Engelbrecht (piano, orchestra leader), Johan Engelbrecht (percussion, guitar, violin), and Lelanè van der Merwe (cello, violin), seated among the stunning floral creations of Alta Scott of Deur die Blare Floral Art. The art installation, curated by René Scribante, transformed the Market Community Theatre into an artwork in itself.
Heather Stead, the theatre director, has reason to be proud. Through her consistent efforts, she and her team continue to offer a unique creative platform for the talented artists of the Garden Route to showcase their work.
