ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - Music lovers and poetry enthusiasts are in for a memorable evening this week as acclaimed South African guitarist and storyteller Mel Botes presents Poets, Wine and Song at the Market Community Theatre on Friday 8 May.
This intimate production is a celebration of the poets behind some of the world’s most iconic songs - paired, fittingly, with a glass of wine.
Audiences can expect a nostalgic journey as Botes performs a carefully curated selection of classics by legendary artists such as Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, Neil Young, Mark Knopfler, David Gilmour, Roger Waters and Rodriguez.
Known for his masterful guitar work and deeply expressive performances, Botes will also share original material from his albums David’s Confession, Flight of Bird, and his latest project, River Symphony - a symphony in progress.
A seasoned raconteur, he offers audiences insight into how powerful words become enduring songs, and why these works have left such a lasting impression on both himself and music lovers around the world.
The show takes place on Friday 8 May at 18:30. Tickets are available via Webtickets. - Compiled by Michelle Pienaar
