GEORGE NEWS - Outeniqua Music Academy (OMA) is hosting a fundraiser concert this coming Saturday, 6 May, at St Mary's Primary School at 17:00.
Local artists, bands and choirs will fill the school hall with their musical performances. The line-up includes Voce Excellencia Choir, St Mary's Music Academy & Brass Band and Elvinia's Dance Academy.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, South Cape Children's Choir will not be performing at this event.
"The aim of the event is to raise R25 000 for the purchase of brass instruments for a local educational institution to utilise in one of the music development centres," said Elvinia Manuel, a director of OMA.
OMA is a non-profit organisation and was founded in February this year, under the directorship of Claudette Pieters, Elvinia Manuel, Imanuel Nkinana, Gabriel Campher and Ezechiel Beddy. Manuel said the mission of the association is to provide formal music education and training to children from disadvantaged communities in the Southern Cape, with the aim of enriching their lives, fostering their creativity and promoting social cohesion.
The objectives are to promote the value and importance of music education, raise funds and seek donations to support the association's programmes and services.
Tickets cost R100 (adults) and R50 (learners). Contact Elvina via WhatsApp on 083 725 4215 or send an email to elviniap@yahoo.com.
