GEORGE ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - Music lovers are in for a treat when the dynamic jazz trio Triou takes to the stage at the Market Community Theatre on Saturday 11 April at 19:00.
Blending the essence of a classic piano trio with a modern, innovative twist, Triou delivers a vibrant repertoire that spans the American Songbook, South African jazz favourites and reimagined contemporary pop.
Their performances are known for their warmth, energy and a distinctive sound that bridges tradition and fresh creativity.
Praised by Fine Music Radio as “taking South African jazz to the next level”, the trio features an impressive lineup of musicians.
On piano is Blake Hellaby, a Cape Town-based pianist, composer, and producer known for blending jazz with African and Western influences.
He is joined by Sean Sanby, an accomplished Cape Town-based bassist, composer and producer, and Pascal Haas, a German Jazz drummer based in Stellenbosch, known for combining modern jazz with global influences.
Audiences can expect music by jazz greats such as Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson and Ahmad Jamal, alongside South African legends like Abdullah Ibrahim and Winston Mankunku Ngozi.
The programme also includes original compositions and inventive arrangements of modern pop hits, from The Beatles to Beyoncé.
