ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - "There is nothing like a good dose of humour. It's important to laugh, especially as there is so much in the world that is so serious and scary these days."
So says Mossel Bay local Ntembeko Monde, also known as Moola Moola, who is putting on a Comedy Night at the Diaz Hotel on Saturday, 5 April.
Monde put on a show in July 2023 in Mossel Bay.
He says: "We filled up the Bravo Lounge at the Garden Route Casino and we got good reviews, so we hope to fill up this venue too."
The show is called Finally. Monde explains why.
"I'd been engaged for six years and at the 2023 show everyone asked me when I was getting married." He was "ragged" about this long engagement a lot, he admits with a chuckle.
Married
He decided to call this coming show Finally, because he is now a married man and many people have said to him, "Finally you're married."
He is bringing three other comedians to town to join him in the show:
Liyabona Nqaba, known as Liyanqaba, based in Gqeberha, is the star of the show, Sugar Mama, on YouTube.
Lukhanyo Maphempeni, also from Gqeberha, also acts on Sugar Mama.
Vusi "Oulik" Sono, from Komani (previously Queenstown), is well known for his characterisations on social media.
The perpetually drunk and hiccupping woman, Palesa, is his most famous character, but he does other impersonations of people of all ages and cultures, attracting millions of views.
Time slot
The doors open at 18:00 on 5 April. Each stand-up comedian will have a time slot.
No under 18s will be allowed at the show, Moola notes. The show will be about relationships, community issues, crime and politics, among other topics.
For tickets, call 073 694 3166. Pre-bought tickets cost R150 and tickets at the door, R170.
