12-14 September:
Shakespeare Schools Festival (18:00 - 20:00) at the Market Community Arts Theatre. Enjoy performances by two or three schools, with learners presenting their own 30-minute adaptations of Shakespeare's plays, in any language, in a setting that speaks to them. Tickets: Webtickets or at the theatre for R70 and R50.
15-17 September:
Klits jou man se eiers (19:00) by die George-kunsteteater. 'n Aand vir dames met Timothy Kieswetter. Geen o. 18's. Kaartjies by itickets vir R220 of R300.
19 September:
A Star is Born (18:00) at the DR Church Die Vleie in Hoekwil. Hoekwil Primary presents a cultural event. Tickets on Quicket or at the school for R150 (adults) and R80 (children 3-12). Tickets include soup. Enquiries: Ilze on 044 850 1079.
19 September (18:30) and 20 September (15:00 and 18:30):
The Nutcracker at the George Arts Theatre, showcased by Elvinia's Dance Academy. Tickets are R160 per person from Elvinia: send a WhatsApp to 083 725 4215.
26 September (18:30) at Sedgefield DR Church and 28 September (16:00):
Scenes from the Opera at the Market Community Theatre. Presented by Goldblatt Music Productions, featuring Phyllis Goldblatt (soprano), Siphesihle Mdena (tenor), Luvo Rasemeni (bass-baritone) and Zolina Ngejane (mezzosoprano), with piano accompaniment by Vanessa Phillips. Tickets are R160 and available at the Sedgefield DR Church Office or at the door, and from Quicket or Heather on 072 369 3304 for the production in George.
24-25 October:
Narnia at George Civic Centre (15:00 and 19:00). A tale in three acts, presented by Abbi Geldenhuys Academy of Ballet. Featuring a cast of 120 dancers, this 90-minute ballet brings the world of Narnia to life with stunning choreography, powerful storytelling and captivating costumes. Tickets on Quicket at R120 each.
