GEORGE ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - Georgians will have another opportunity to enjoy the expertise of one of our home-grown acclaimed musicians, the pianist Ammiel Bushakevitz, on 29 November.
He will be performing with international soprano Laetitia Grimaldi at a soiree titled "A Parisian evening at the Princess de Polignac".
The programme will include enthralling works by Duparc, De Polignac, Cantaloube, Chopin, Liszt and more. The concert is proudly presented by the artistic director of The Music Club, Dr Ronell van Aswegen.
Artists
Bushakevitz was born in Jerusalem, Israel, raised in George and gone on to study and perform at prestigious venues in Europe. One of the last private students of the late Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, he accompanied Fischer-Dieskau's masterclasses at the Universität der Künste in Berlin and at the Schwarzenberg Schubertiade in Austria in 2011.
Ammiel has also worked with other notable singers including Thomas Hampson, Elly Ameling, Thomas Quasthoff, Barbara Bonney, Dame Felicity Lott, Brigitte Fassbaender and Teresa Berganza. He has released several solo albums under European labels to critical acclaim and five-star reviews. His recording of Schubert's Moments Musicaux was used as the soundtrack of the 2017 Austrian film Gwendolyn.
Born in France, Laetitia Grimaldi spent her childhood in Lisbon and London. She did her vocal studies with Teresa Berganza and Lorraine Nubar, and obtained a Masters degree from Juilliard.

Since her Carnegie Hall debut in 2013, she has sung in many renowned halls, opera stages and international festivals in the USA, Canada and Europe. She has also starred in a Naxos DVD of the opera Les Fêtes de l'Hymen et de L'amour.

The soiree will be hosted at the Van Aswegen residence, 30 Eagle Drive, Fancourt Residential at 19:00 for 19:30. Tickets are R200 (adults) and R30 (learners). Booking is essential and can be done on 082 823 3505.
