GEORGE NEWS - The inaugural Tails and Trails event held at the Garden Route Dam on Saturday 18 April was a resounding success, bringing together animal lovers, fitness enthusiasts and their four-legged companions in support of the SPCA George.
The participants arrived in high spirits, accompanied by their dogs and carrying donations of food, blankets and dog beds, all aimed at assisting animals in need.
The event was hosted by Ben Viviers of F45 Training, in collaboration with Sky Lens Media, and featured a scenic 5km run and walk route around the dam.
The relaxed setting was the perfect opportunity for the 'tailwaggers' to socialise while their owners enjoyed the outdoors.
A range of sponsors contributed to the day, providing prizes that added to the fun atmosphere. The categories included awards for the first finishers as well as the best dog-and-owner lookalike - always a hit at such events.

Viviers expressed his gratitude after the event, thanking all the participants and sponsors for their support. "From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who made time to join this beautiful event. A huge thank you to everyone who made this day possible. Without your help, none of this would have been possible," he said.

He also praised the local community for its generosity and support.
The success of this first Tails and Trails has sparked enthusiasm for future editions, and the organisers are hopeful that it will become a regular feature on the local calendar, combining fitness, fun and community support for animal welfare.
