Lawaaikamp crèche subsidy reinstated
Cause to celebrate! These children from a crèche in Lawaaikamp have been unaware that their centre's subsidy was suspended four months ago. The subsidy should be back in the crèche's bank account within the week.
GEORGE NEWS - Great news! The suspended monthly subsidy of R31 680 for the Lawaaikamp crèche will be reinstated shortly.

Director of George Child and Family Welfare, Sue du Toit, was exulted when the news reached her that the "miscommunication" that had caused the subsidy to be suspended, was cleared up last week. Du Toit thanked the George Herald for their assistance in the matter, adding, "If it was not for your involvement we would still be struggling."

Samantha Fourie, the Western Cape Department's communication's officer, confirmed this news. "Child Welfare has therefore played an administrative role, and as an interim measure it has been agreed upon that they will continue this function and support, until Lawaaikamp crèche is able to operate independently.

The subsidy is therefore being processed and the funds will be available within the next two weeks."

Furthermore, Fourie added that "In order for a crèche to comply with the funding process of the Department of Social Development, the entity has to be registered." Thus the source of the suspension, i.e. the crèche's lack of an NPO registration and certificate is also to be addressed.

"The process of NPO registration is managed by National NPO offices and the Lawaaikamp crèche application is currently underway," Fourie commented.

The monthly subsidy from the Department of Social Development for the Lawaaikamp crèche, which caters for 120 children between the ages of two and six years of age, was suspended four months ago.

* Die maandelikse subsidie wat 'n Lawaaikamp-kleuterskool van die Departement Maatskaplike Ontwikkeling ontvang en wat vir vier maande onttrek is, sal hopelik in die volgende week weer beskikbaar wees.
