Chinese worker killed at Zambia mine
12:52 (GMT+2), Mon, 06 August 2012
INTERNATIONAL NEWS - Clashes at a Chinese-owned mine in Zambia have killed one Chinese worker and injured two others.

The official Chinese news agency Xinhua reported the attack happened at Collum Coal Mining Industries Ltd. on Saturday, citing information from the Chinese Embassy in Lusaka. Embassy officials did not answer requests for comment Monday from The Associated Press.

The mine is in the same area where two Chinese managers were accused of shooting coal miners during a labor dispute in 2010.

Labor conflicts at Chinese businesses in Zambia are pointed to as examples of problems with Chinese investors across Africa. In 2005, an explosion at a Chinese-owned factory in northern Zambia killed 51 Zambian workers.
