INTERNATIONAL NEWS - There is a chance of showers around mid-day on the first day of athletics competition Friday at the London Olympics.
According to the Met Office, the day will start dry but sometimes heavy showers are expected to develop from late morning. These will ease during the afternoon to leave a dry evening at the Olympic stadium.
Apart from athletics, the rowing at Eton Dorney and archery at the Lord's Cricket Ground could be affected by the weather.
The day's 15 other medal events will be held indoors.
