NATIONAL NEWS - A march for better education would be staged in Tembisa on the East Rand on Thursday, advocacy group Equal Education (EE) said.
It said in a statement that all EE delegates, observers and other EE supporters would take part.
They would demand that norms and standards were finalised immediately for school infrastructure, and that a judicial commission of inquiry into textbook tendering be appointed.
"Tembisa holds special significance for EE and the struggle for education," the non-government body said
Pupils gathered in Tembisa in 1976 to demand solidarity with the Soweto uprising, and EE would march from Tembisa High School on the same route that was followed in 1976.
