Verdict expected in German trial of ex-RAF

INTERNATIONAL NEWS - A court is expected to deliver its verdict in the trial of a former Red Army Faction member accused of involvement in the 1977 murder of West Germany's chief federal prosecutor - one of the leftist group's most notorious killings.
Verena Becker went on trial in September 2010, accused of playing a leading role in the fatal ambush of prosecutor Siegfried Buback, his driver and a bodyguard. She was charged with three counts of murder.
Ahead of Friday's expected verdict at a Stuttgart court, prosecutors have backed off the assertion that Becker was a co-perpetrator but have called for her to be convicted as an accessory to murder.
Becker has testified that she was "never involved in concrete preparation" for the attack. The defense team has called for her acquittal.
