Oyster Festival goes digital
The Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival is taking place this year from 6 - 15 July. The festival has launched a digital festival programme application, which can be downloaded on BlackBerry, Android phones, iPhones and iPad.
GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - A first in the country, festival goers will be given instant digital updates on the Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival programme, 6-15 July.

A user-friendly application, launched on 2 July is giving access to festival information, which can be downloaded on BlackBerry, Android phones, iPhones and iPad and is set to replace the traditional festival booklet. It forms part of Pick n Pay's Goodness Campaign and is a move towards the goal of a paper-free and economically sustainable festival.

10 000 copies of a Pick 'n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival schedule of events will still be printed for those without access to smart phones, but there are plans to phase out the festival information booklet over the next few years. "We are proud and excited to launch the first festival app in South Africa, keeping ahead of world trends in digital media," said Bronwen Rohland, Director Marketing and Sustainability Pick 'n Pay.

The 10 activity-packed days of winter holidays can be filled with running, cycling and adventure racing, or wine and whiskey tastings, cooking competitions, food and wine pairings, gala evenings, live music, a specialised children's programme and of course - oysters.
