Monroe Theatre celebrates Marilyn in June
07:30 (GMT+2), Fri, 01 June 2012
SOUTHERN CAPE NEWS - The iconic Marilyn Monroe was born on 1 June 1926 and in commemoration of her impact on film history, the Monroe Theatre will be featuring a range of her films in June.

Thursday, 7 June, sees the screening of the film 'Bus Stop' at 18:30. Unlike most of Marilyn Monroe's movies, 'Bus Stop' is neither a full-fledged comedy, nor a musical, but rather a dramatic piece. 'Bus Stop' tells the story of a naive but stubborn cowboy who falls in love with a saloon singer and tries to take her away against her will to get married and live on his ranch in Montana.

The green and black sequined costume worn by Marilyn Monroe in this movie was given a guide price of £200 000 at an auction that took place in Beverly Hills, California in December 2011.

"It is one of the most indelible looks from her entire career," the Daily Mail quoted the spokesman for the auctioneers Profiles In History, as saying. It has been a top choice for publicity images of Marilyn from the 50s right up until the present day."
Bookings can be made with Joan on 082 415 9588.
