GEORGE NEWS - Branden Grace continued his fine form in Europe with a fifth place at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Club yesterday.

Grace fired a final round 70 for a seven under par 281 four-round total, eight shots behind Englishman winner Luke Donald.

The 24-year-old began the final round on five under and threw in two birdies offset by two bogies going out, before picking up a stroke on the par three 10th hole.

He parred his way in before a birdie on his closing hole, to sneak up the leaderboard and improve his already considerable earnings this season.

Coming into the event, the George professional was fifth on the moneylist courtesy of his three wins this season, and the only other South African ahead in the earnings was Louis Oosthuizen.

While Grace was the top finishing local player, he was just one of eight South Africans that made it to the weekend.

Next best was Richard Sterne in sixth place on his own with a final round 71 for a six under total for the week.

Further down in a tie for seventh was Ernie Els on five under par after his closing level par 72.

The Big Easy briefly led the tournament on day one, before dropping back but will be satisfied with his week's work.

Charl Schwartzel ended in share of 18th place with final round 67 which moved him up 27 places to two under for the tournament.

George Coetzee was one adrift of Schwartzel, on one under par with a closing six under 66 that saw him jump 30 spots to end tied 21st for the four rounds.

Garth Mulroy finished on level par for the week in a commendable tie for 27th, while fiery Jbe' Kruger was on one over in share of 33rd position.

James Kingston battled after making the cut with a terrible third round 85 and had to settle for tie 70th finish.
